When it comes to looking for a great place to go RVing in the state of Washington, you don't have to look far. Washington is a diverse place that offers a number of different things to see and do. Here is a look at three great places to drive an RV to in Washington State.
1. Olympic National Forest
The Olympic National Forest is located on Washington's Olympic Peninsula and is home to a number of fun things to see from the comfort of an RV. The Hoh Rain Forest is one of the few chances Americans will have to visit an actual rain forest. Mount Olympus and Hurricane Ridge are spectacular sights any time of year. The Sol Duc Hot Springs are a welcoming location for weary travelers. All this and more awaits in beautiful Olympic National Forest.
2. Chelan
One of the most popular vacation areas in Washington State for locals is the community of Chelan. Chelan sits right on the popular Cascade Loop which is a wonderful road trip and a great way to see the northern interior of the state. Chelan also sits on 51 mile long Lake Chelan, a gorgeous glacier fed lake that provides a great deal of recreational possibilities. Within the immediate area there are campgrounds, the Columbia River, major hydroelectric dams, hiking trails, wineries, and agricultural areas.
3. Grand Coulee Dam
One of the most famous dams in the United States, Grand Coulee Dam was constructed in the 1930s and has been impressing visitors ever since. The dam's size is incredibly impressive and a great subject of photographs. Touring the facility is incredibly interesting. Other nearby attractions include the Colville Indian Reservation, Banks Lake, Steamboat Rock, and more. Lake Roosevelt, the water backed up by Grand Coulee Dam, stretches more than 150 miles behind it and offers a vast area to explore and experience.
While there may be other more popular or famous destinations to go RVing, there are few that can match what the state of Washington has to offer. Some of the incredible amount of things available in the state include beautiful bays and harbors, fun beaches, rugged mountains, peaceful meadows, interesting communities, hard to find islands, and arid desert-like conditions too. Washington simply has it all.
